Gosforth Park Golf pre-turnaround
- On the verge of bankruptcy
- Number of members totalled only 150 members
- Run down golf course and thirty bay golf driving range
AWGI turned Gosforth Park Golf successfully around and achieved:
- A profitable, well run course
- A quadrupling of the membership to 650
- A sales increase for the driving range to 300,000 baskets in the second year of
the turnaround
- An applauded course design - improved beyond recognition
- Parklands to become the busiest golf complex in the North of England according to
the Tourist Board, shortly after the turnaround
Turnaround management included:
- Financial reorganisation and introduction of budgeting principles and discipline
- Strong operational and performance management and information systems.
Full course overhaul including:
- Reconstruction of clubhouse and driving range.
- Redesigned and upgraded of 18 hole golf course and driving range.
- Improved procurement of all golf course materials and clubhouse equipment.
- Focused staff training, hiring and day to day management of golf complex during
turn-around.
- Strong marketing and advertising campaign and sales management.
